to this important time |
in your family’s life with Jesus Christ and His
Church. Sacramental preparation is not just for his/her “first”
Reconciliation and “first” Eucharist; it is preparation for a lifetime
that only begins with these Sacraments. Corpus Christi is your partner
in this preparation, and is committed to supporting you in your
responsibility as Christian parents. May God bless you and your child on
this faith journey!
The process of preparing children for these two Sacraments is multifaceted. Your child will be receiving catechesis on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:45. In the classroom children will learn about their Catholic faith and be provided with opportunities to build on their relationship with God through scripture, prayer and music. Additionally, there will be Parent/Child retreats for both Sacraments. These retreats will reinforce what the children learned about the Sacraments in their classroom, through prayer, a short video, music, and a fun project to celebrate the Sacrament.
Catechesis and participation in the retreats are important, but the most important component of their preparation is attending Mass every week. By having faith formation classes in-between the 8am Mass and 11am Mass, we are hopeful more families will celebrate Mass either before or after classes.
As parents and guardians, you are the number one influence on your child’s faith. What you do to nurture faith and love for God at home and at your parish are vitally important. You are not alone in your responsibility. Your faith community at Corpus Christi is here to support you and thrilled to be sharing in this exciting time of your child’s faith journey. A journey that began at their Baptism and will continue through the Sacrament of Confirmation, their third Sacrament of Initiation.
